Samhain is a file system integrity checker that can be used as a client/server application for centralized monitoring of networked hosts. Databases and configuration files can be stored on the server. Databases, logs, and config files can be signed for tamper resistance. In addition to forwarding reports to the log server via authenticated TCP/IP connections, several other logging facilities (e-mail, console, and syslog) are available. Tested on Linux, AIX, HP-UX, Unixware, Sun and Solaris.

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2014-150 - Tor before 0.2.4.23 maintains a circuit after an inbound RELAY_EARLY cell is received by a client, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct traffic-confirmation attacks by using the pattern of RELAY and RELAY_EARLY cells as a means of communicating information about hidden service names.

The Mandos system allows computers to have encrypted root file systems and at the same time be capable of remote or unattended reboots. The computers run a small client program in the initial RAM disk environment which will communicate with a server over a network. All network communication is encrypted using TLS. The clients are identified by the server using an OpenPGP key that is unique to each client. The server sends the clients an encrypted password. The encrypted password is decrypted by the clients using the same OpenPGP key, and the password is then used to unlock the root file system.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2014-1023-01 - The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux operating system. It was found that Linux kernel's ptrace subsystem did not properly sanitize the address-space-control bits when the program-status word was being set. On IBM S/390 systems, a local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to set address-space-control bits to the kernel space, and thus gain read and write access to kernel memory. It was found that the permission checks performed by the Linux kernel when a netlink message was received were not sufficient. A local, unprivileged user could potentially bypass these restrictions by passing a netlink socket as stdout or stderr to a more privileged process and altering the output of this process.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2014-1025-01 - The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux operating system. A flaw was found in the way the pppol2tp_setsockopt() and pppol2tp_getsockopt() functions in the Linux kernel's PPP over L2TP implementation handled requests with a non-SOL_PPPOL2TP socket option level. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to escalate their privileges on the system.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2014-1019-01 - Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 is a platform for Java applications based on JBoss Application Server 7. A race condition flaw, leading to heap-based buffer overflows, was found in the mod_status httpd module. A remote attacker able to access a status page served by mod_status on a server using a threaded Multi-Processing Module could send a specially crafted request that would cause the httpd child process to crash or, possibly, allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the "apache" user. A denial of service flaw was found in the way httpd's mod_deflate module handled request body decompression. A remote attacker able to send a request whose body would be decompressed could use this flaw to consume an excessive amount of system memory and CPU on the target system.

Ubuntu Security Notice 2307-1 - It was discovered that GPGME incorrectly handled certain certificate line lengths. An attacker could use this issue to cause applications using GPGME to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2014-149 - Use-after-free vulnerability in ext/spl/spl_array.c in the SPL component in PHP through 5.5.14 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted ArrayIterator usage within applications in certain web-hosting environments. Use-after-free vulnerability in ext/spl/spl_dllist.c in the SPL component in PHP through 5.5.14 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted iterator usage within applications in certain web-hosting environments. file before 5.19 does not properly restrict the amount of data read during a regex search, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted file that triggers backtracking during processing of an awk rule. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2013-7345. The updated php packages have been upgraded to the 5.5.15 version and patched to resolve these security flaws. Additionally, the jsonc extension has been upgraded to the 1.3.6 version and the PECL packages which requires so has been rebuilt for php-5.5.15.

Debian Linux Security Advisory 2997-1 - Jakub Wilk discovered a remote command execution flaw in reportbug, a tool to report bugs in the Debian distribution. A man-in-the-middle attacker could put shell metacharacters in the version number allowing arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running reportbug.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2014-1013-01 - PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language commonly used with the Apache HTTP Server. PHP's fileinfo module provides functions used to identify a particular file according to the type of data contained by the file. A denial of service flaw was found in the File Information extension rules for detecting AWK files. A remote attacker could use this flaw to cause a PHP application using fileinfo to consume an excessive amount of CPU. Multiple denial of service flaws were found in the way the File Information extension parsed certain Composite Document Format files. A remote attacker could use either of these flaws to crash a PHP application using fileinfo via a specially crafted CDF file.

Multiple denial of service flaws were found in the way the File Information extension parsed certain Composite Document Format files. A remote attacker could use either of these flaws to crash a PHP application using fileinfo via a specially crafted CDF file. Two denial of service flaws were found in the way the File Information extension handled indirect and search rules. Red Hat Security Advisory 2014-1011-01 - RESTEasy contains a JBoss project that provides frameworks to help build RESTful Web Services and RESTful Java applications. It is a fully certified and portable implementation of the JAX-RS specification. It was found that the fix for CVE-2012-0818 was incomplete: external parameter entities were not disabled when the resteasy.document.expand.entity.references parameter was set to false. A remote attacker able to send XML requests to a RESTEasy endpoint could use this flaw to read files accessible to the user running the application server, and potentially perform other more advanced XXE attacks.
